Probably forgot to enter a timestamp so it defaulted to epoch.

Who says it has to be either? This event has been running since 1970! You never noticed?

(yes, it was an April Fools thing ;))

That's just what a person who forgot a timestamp would say! :D

"That's not a bug, it's a feature!"

And it was interesting that depending on timezone apparently some people were getting "1969" and not something like "2038" or even further into the future, so it's quite unlikely that "zero" was entered as the starting timestamp.

This is actually exactly how epoch timestamps work, negative values indicate times before 1/1/1970, and then there's various timezone shifts that could interpret a timestamp of 0 GMT as being in december 1969.

I was online when the event went live and it displayed the starting date as the 30th of March, only to change to December 31, 1969 later on. I assume the timestamp was changed because the event started later than intended (as it actually went live on April 1st at 2AM EDT). There was a brief discussion of this error on the SH discord server.

Hmm, I guess I was thinking of a sub-optimal implementation of first converting to a localtime timestamp of the same type and then displaying...
(Hey, it could happen... If windows (at least up till 7) does dumb stuff like storing localtime in the hardware clock of the PC, I'm sure someone has made a date display implementation where 1970-01-01 00:00:00 gets timezone-converted to 2038 or some date after the end of the universe. ;) )

It's always fun too when millisecond and second timestamps get mixed up.
