How To Gain Shopkeeper Levels Fast

Shopkeeper experience is granted by selling items to customers. You gain 0 experience from using the Trade House.

Each item has a flat amount of experience when sold to a customer (the same item sold to a customer will always grant the same experience). The amount of experience is ONLY based on the Base Price of the item (at 0 crafts). Surcharging, suggesting, discounting, impatient customers, or having the price increase upgrade has no impact on the experience gained.

Each quality of item has its own base price, so a Great Base Price will grant more experience than a Common Base Price of the same item. The amount of experience gained with an increased quality is exactly proportional to the base price. 1 Great has the same base price as 2 Commons. Selling 1 Great grants both the same amount of Gold and Experience as selling 2 Commons.

How to Gain Shopkeeper Levels Fast

1.) Get gold.
2.) Increase your Net Worth.
3.) Buy Equipment from the Trade House.
4.) Sell Equipment to Customers.
5.) Repeat.

1 Option A.) Sell items requested on the Trade House that are listed at 9x the base price of the item.

1 Option B.) (Available at Shopkeeper Level 15+ Only) Buy a key with Gems. The higher level the key, the better. Key order in Highest to Lowest: Primal, Dwarf, Magic, Gold, Iron, Leather, Wood. Sell the item for the maximum amount of gold. Your Trade House maximum might be capped by your Net Worth.

1 Option C.) Complete achievements. Many will grant 200000 Gold for 3 Stars, 1000000 Gold for 4 stars, and 25 gems for 5 stars.

1 Option D.) Use the gold from selling Equipment from the Trade House to customers.

2.) How is Networth calculated?
Networth includes the following: Shop Upgrades, Furniture Value (and upgrades), City Investments, Hired Workers Salary (their current value at the level), Heroes Equipped Items (it's technically yours since you lend it to them)

Networth does NOT include the following:
Current gold, Inventory.

3.) You can only see Equipment in the Trade House up to 5 levels higher than your shopkeeper level. If you are level 10, you can see every item in the game from level 1 through 15. As soon as you become level 11, you can see 1 through 16. You can also see any item you have unlocked or that has been added to your inventory.

For recommendations of what items to buy, see the images below.

4.) You can only sell items to your customers that are +7/-7 Item levels versus the Hero level, and only items that they can equip. If your heroes are not high enough level, you can pay directly into their Hero Building to give them experience. Or you can send them on quests.

5.) Repeat until you are level 35. You can now get all the rewards from Raids.

So that's a little confusing, or needs to be clarified.

If I Suggest a different item, which item's Base Price is used to determine the experience? The original or the new?

Also, WHAT? The experience is based on the price? Isn't it just that the item's experience is the item's experience, and it is independent of price?

Base price refers to the original, unmodified price of an item. If you suggest a new item, it uses that new item's base price.

Experience rates are correlated to base price. The higher the base, the higher the experience.

I have reworded it to be a bit clearer. The experience granted by an item is the same as when you have 0 crafted, forever, always.

The experience is based on price of the exact same item. So a Common Broadsword will have an equal ratio of experience granted as a Great Broadsword. The experience isn't based on the Gold of the item, as you can see in the images.

Much better. Thanks.

Now the only problem is the usability of these lists.

I mean, the list has Chaos Armor on it.

This strategy guide reads like, here's a strategy, and here's a list of items that are good with this strategy. But many (most?) of the items listed are very expensive to buy in the Trade House compared to the experience gained for selling it.

Yep. Making gold and making levels are completely different things that can sometimes align and sometimes not at all, so you'll need to find the point/items that are OK for your situation.
One person might decide to dump gems on the highest exp ratio items in the list to powerlevel, another might decide to mass craft listed items with a bit lower exp ratio and up levels like that but at a lower rate than the other person.

Sorry but I disagree. If money/gold/gems was no object then the strategy would simply be:

Step 1: Click From Trade
Step 2: Click (Buy)
Step 3: Click Sell

The idea of the strategy guide should be to show how to stretch limited gold/gems as far as possible.

That would be the shortest guide, and it's nearly 100% common sense, so it wouldn't need to be written.

What I think Wing has done is expanded upon a frequently asked question that shows up in world chat a lot. He's added depth and data to a question that is otherwise answered as "buy stuff on trade for as close to base as possible".
