I made a spreadsheet including Giant/Jack for the P2P people.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

The link above is if you bought both Giant and Jack packages. You can swap out Jack for one of the T2 workers if you want to go completely maxed out on mastery.

Max Mastery Possible with Giant/T2 Worker (no Jack): 2094
Max Mastery Possible with Giant/Jack: 1913
Max Mastery Possible with No Giant or Jack: 1956 (note though, you'll have virtually no points in the following skills though: Armor Crafting, Jewelry, Magic, Metal Working, Tinkering)

Someone mentioned in chat that mastery for fired workers affect your total mastery.

Any legitimacy for this statement?

No, that is inaccurate. Only hired workers count.

Thanks for the clarification
It sounded too good to be true :(

What would you recommend for someone not yet maxed out on Worker slots?

I have Giant/Jack packages, just not the 8th worker slot yet.

Giant + 6 T3s. Skill 1:1 around whatever you're crafting. If you can get to 1771 with those seven, use Jack in the eight spot. If not, use a T2 until you can.

Would it be wise to maximize mastery when I have only 4 workers? It's taking ages to level up at this point because everything is crazy expensive to upgrade and auction house prices are multiple times higher than selling to NPCs so I see myself staying at 4 workers for a while.

When you early-mid game, there's no point of maximizing mastery because long craft time leads to very hard and long leveling and item lines progressing.
The only exclusion is if you have some paid or chest blueprints, which you are using to level up and gain gold. Then you can think about maximize skills and mastery for that specific blueprint.

I guess the "How To Gain Shopkeeper Levels Fast" strategy guide could be something useful for you to read through:
