I really like having an event calendar. What's a bit lacking though is reliability of the schedule, making the calendar a lot less useful. Most events we can take as they come, so schedule reliability is not that big of an issue, even the calendar at all is not even that important for them. The fusion time event is a different beast though. With high level fusion times of multiple days, the event can make a huge difference, but it also requires some planning. For example, an ad hoc fusion time event is even easy to miss completely when it happens to fall in the middle of running fusions. Planning security - which the calendar can help provide - is a major point here. Unfortunately, such planning security has not fully emerged yet, because event schedules have not been very reliable so far, especially with fusion time events:
- The fusion time event at the end of March ended half an hour early. Not a problem for most, but a few players who wanted to start long fusions right at the end got shafted.
- The 48h fusion time event announced for April 5th and 6th unexpectedly ended after only 24 hours without any explanation. Many players with planned long time fusions likely had planned to start those on the second day and thus missed out.
- The fusion time event scheduled for April 18th suddenly got axed right before its start.
One might even wonder whether CC simply doesn't want us to reduce fusion time, at least for those very long fusions. Are fusion time events out of fashion?
